THE AGONY IN THE GARDEN

Jesus went to the garden with his disciples to pray.  He then went a short distance away from them.  He began to pray, “Father if it be you will, take this cup from me.  Not my will but your will be done.”  As he prayed, his sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Based upon Luke 22:39-44

MAY I PRAY WHEN FACING THE TRIALS OF TODAY.

MAY I PRAY GOD’S WILL BE DONE.

THE SCOURGING AT THE PILLAR

Barabbas was a notorious prisoner, a murderer.  Pilate released him to satisfy the crowd.  Pilate found Jesus not guilty of any crime.  Jesus, the Prince of Peace, was beaten with a whip.  Jesus was handed over to be crucified.

Based upon Mark 15:7-15

WHAT HAVE I DONE TO SATISFY THE CROWD?

WHO HAVE I BEATEN IN WORD OR ACTION?

WHO HAVE I CONDEMMED?

 THE CROWNING WITH THORNS

Stripping Jesus of his clothes, they wrapped him in a scarlet cloak.  They weaved a crown of thorns and fixed it on his head.  The soldiers mocked Jesus and spat upon him.  When they were done humiliating him, they led Jesus off to his crucifixion.

Based upon Matthew 27:27-31

WHO HAVE I STRIPPED OF THEIR DIGNITY?

WHAT CROWN OF THORNS HAVE I WOVEN AND PLACED UPON ANOTHER’S HEAD?

WHO HAVE I MOCKED AND HUMILIATED?

 The CARRYING OF THE CROSS

The soldiers laid hold of Simon and pressed him into service to carry the cross.

Based upon Matthew.27:32

WOULD I BE ABLE TO CARRY THE CROSS OF JESUS?

The CRUCIFIXION

The crowds insulted Jesus. The chief priests, scribes and elders jeered at him.  The insurgents crucified with Jesus taunted him.  Jesus said, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing.”

Based upon Matthew 27:39, 41, 44; Luke 23:34

WHO HAVE I INSULTED, JEERED AND TAUNTED?

CAN I FORGIVE OTHERS?
