Candle Light Vigil – “Caring for Our Common Home” in Solidarity with Pope Francis

On Wednesday September 23 at 6 pm, parishes and congregations around Beaverton will gather at the Washington County Peace Vigil Stand for Peace at the corner of SW 5th St and SW Hall Blvd.  Our theme “Caring for Our Common Home” will be proclaimed to our city as we hold a candlelight vigil and march to our local Peace Pole, in solidarity with Pope Francis as he shares his message of helping the poor, protecting the environment, and peace with Congress the next day.

We hope to inspire others to consider how they can practice nonviolence towards all of Creation.  Bring signs to proclaim your support for God’s Creation. This is an ecumenical, family-friend event so bring the kids.  Chalk will be available for creative drawings as well as information and resources on caring for the earth. All are welcome to join the celebration.

This is part of a nationwide week of nonviolence sponsored by Pace e Bene, a non-denominational organization dedicated to active nonviolence. Here is the website if you want to explore http://paceebene.org/.  Flyers are attached Care for Our Common Home color Poster2 or black and white Care for Our Common HomeBW Poster.

Be Courageous!
